Powerplay Golf announces new ambassadorial role for Dame Laura Davies
As part of its relaunch following new ownership, board changes and a strengthening of its team, PowerPlay Golf (PPG), the tried and tested short form of the game, is delighted to announce that Dame Laura Davies has agreed to become an Ambassador.
Dame Laura has a stellar playing record with 80 wins worldwide, 20 of which were on the LPGA Tour, including four majors. She is a member of the LPGA, an honorary member of the R&A, a life member of the Ladies European Tour and a 2015 inductee to the World Golf Hall of Fame.
Ken Schofield, Chairman of PowerPlay Golf, said: “Dame Laura has been rightly singled out as the finest ladies professional of her generation with a playing record that will stand the test of time on the tournament circuit and in representing her country in 12 Solheim Cups and elsewhere. With Dame Laura and PPG’s inventor, Peter McEvoy, himself equally regarded as the premier amateur player of his generation, both guiding our way forward, the game is in very good hands”
Dame Laura Davies said: ”I remember watching the inaugural PPG event on TV thinking ‘why am I not playing!’ The risk and reward format of PPG appeals to my style of play and I believe the shortened time it takes to play, either amongst professionals on TV or at clubs, will be welcomed by everyone. PowerPlay is genuinely inclusive, with mixed teams of gender, age and ability using their skills and competitive tactics to outdo each other. Importantly, this is not a gimmick; it is real golf but with a twist and it is a twist that I like”
